Crowns and bridges A crown is like a filling only it goes around a tooth not just in the tooth. A crown usually makes a tooth stronger and improves its appearance. A crown can cover and support a tooth with a large filling when there isn’t enough tooth left. It can be used to attach a bridge, protect a weak tooth from breaking or restore a tooth that is already broken. A crown may alto be used to cover teeth that are discolored or badly shaped. It also is used to cover a dental implant. If you are missing one or more teeth, you may notice a difference in chewing and speaking. Bridges are an option to help maintain the shape of your face, and to alleviate the stress in your bite by replacing missing teeth. A partial bridge replaces missing teeth with artificial teeth, looks great, and literally bridges the gap where one or more teeth may have been. Partial bridges are held in place with clips or clasps, and can be easily taken out and cleaned. Fixed Bridges are also used to replace missing teeth, but are cemented in and only removable by your dentist.Pear Tree Dental will recommend to you which option is the best one for your own personal circumstance. We believe it’s very important for you to keep your remaining teeth healthy and strong, so we will work with each patient individually. |
